數(shù)學(xué)與計算科學(xué)學(xué)院位于中山大學(xué)南校區(qū)，前身是始創(chuàng)于1924年的中山大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系。目前，學(xué)院下設(shè)兩個系（數(shù)學(xué)系、統(tǒng)計科學(xué)系）和五個研究機(jī)構(gòu)（計算科學(xué)實驗室、數(shù)學(xué)研究所、計算科學(xué)與計算機(jī)應(yīng)用研究所、復(fù)雜系統(tǒng)研究中心、華南統(tǒng)計科學(xué)研究中心），擁有數(shù)學(xué)、統(tǒng)計學(xué)兩個一級學(xué)科并形成了具有鮮明特色的優(yōu)勢學(xué)術(shù)領(lǐng)域。學(xué)院現(xiàn)擁有一批教育部“長江學(xué)者”特聘教授、國家杰出青年基金獲得者等在國內(nèi)外有一定影響力的教授和學(xué)者。

SchoolofMathematics&ComputationalSciences,originallyknownastheMathematicsDepartmentfoundedin1924,islocatedontheSouthCampusofSunYat-senUniversity.TheschoolhousestwodepartmentsandfiveresearchinstitutionsandconsistsoftwoFirstGradeDisciplines(mathematicsandstatistics),formingadistinctfeatureinitsresearchfield.Afairnumberof“ChangjiangScholars”,winnersof“TheNationalScienceFundforDistinguishedYoungScholars”aswellasotherrenownedprofessorsandscholarsareservingfortheschool.

為早日實現(xiàn)建設(shè)世界一流大學(xué)的宏偉目標(biāo)，學(xué)校通過擴(kuò)大科研隊伍、鼓勵青年學(xué)子潛心治學(xué)、科研。獲聘人員將得到優(yōu)厚的薪酬，并且沒有明確的教學(xué)任務(wù)，是各研究團(tuán)隊的重要骨干，同時是學(xué)校未來高層次人才的儲備，是選拔核心教師隊伍的人才庫。專職科研和博士后隊伍中的優(yōu)秀者，聘期內(nèi)或聘期結(jié)束時，可直接應(yīng)聘學(xué)校副教授及以上職位。

學(xué)院新建成的教學(xué)辦公樓于2013年投入使用，工作條件舒適。學(xué)院致力于基礎(chǔ)研究、應(yīng)用研究和科技開發(fā)并重，鼓勵潛心治學(xué)，有著良好的學(xué)術(shù)氛圍和自由的研究環(huán)境。
